FAQs
Is the duvet allergy-free?
Alpaca fleece contains low lanolin, which has been shown to help with allergy problems in some people. Alpaca fleece is grown naturally without the need to drench and chemically clean the animals, as is required for sheep. After being shorn, the alpaca fleece is gently washed with organically certified detergents (scouring and acid carbonizing are not required as with wool cleaning) and processed into our alpaca duvets without the use of chemicals.
Is the duvet washable?
Alpaca fiber is self-cleaning and does not absorb any extraneous odors. Therefore, it is usually sufficient to air the comforter sporadically. If washing the duvet is necessary, for instance due to spillages, this should be done by a professional cleaner. We do not recommend machine washing at home.
How long does the duvet retain its properties?
Our alpaca duvets are very durable and can last 10 years or longer if treated well. Since alpaca fiber is self-cleaning and does not absorb odors, the amount of care required is very low. Importantly, the thermoregulatory properties are maintained throughout the life of the comforter and do not diminish.
Does the duvet smell like alpaca?
Our wool is gently cleaned, without the use of any chemical additives, to preserve the fiber’s natural properties in the best as possible while also reducing the product’s environmental impact. The wool may therefore have a slight inherent odor immediately after unpacking, but this will disappear after a few days. We recommend airing the product before use.
Does the duvet lose fibers?
Our comforters are crafted from fiber-dense organic cotton percale, which prevents fibers from penetrating while remaining highly breathable. However, please note that all duvets or comforters made from natural fibers may experience some normal fiber shedding.
Are the throws washable?
Alpaca fiber is self-cleaning and does not absorb any extraneous odors. Therefore, it is usually sufficient to air the throws sporadically. If washing the throws is necessary, for instance due to spillages, this should be done by a professional cleaner.
We do not recommend machine washing at home.
